In Your Presence is not only my personal testimony; it is my commitment to the Lord to remain in His will. This song details my struggle to break up with the sin that held me captive and to enter into a committed relationship with God. Luke 7:41-43 (ESV) best describes my relationship with the Lord. It reads, “‘A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?’ Simon answered, ‘The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.’ And he said to him, ‘You have judged rightly.’”
My debt was great and because He wiped it clean, I love Him with every ounce of my being. In Your Presence is a testament to my love for Him and my promise to Him to never go a day without acknowledging His presence.
Oh Sweet Victory is a testament to the never-failing love of God and how He protected, not only me, but how He has protected all of us. When I look back over my life, I can honestly see many occasions where I could have and probably should have lost my life, but the grace and mercy of God kept me. I can see the many weapons that the enemy formed, but amazingly enough, God didn’t allow any of those weapons to prosper. It is for this reason that I write music to give Him the glory. Isaiah 54:17 (ESV) sums it up well. It reads, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”
